There’s a ton of great reasons to be taking Ginseng as a health supplement. This herb has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 2000 years. It does some great things for bodybuilding, namely: it increases testosterone, as well as nitric oxide naturally. This is the main goal I was shooting after when learning about G, but before I elaborate on these two very important effects, lets discuss the full package of benefits offered by this herb.
Ginseng is recommended for erectile dysfunction, strengthening the immune system, improving concentration and ability to learn, improve mood, reduce fatigue and lower blood sugar levels. It helps with menopause and high blood pressure. Some testing has been studied on effects treating hepatitis C, cancer and heart disease. While some studies are promising, the results are inconclusive. That doesn’t take away from the fact that ginseng is almost universally recognized as a healthy supplement that should be included in your diet.
Panax Ginseng was given to a group who suffered with freshly diagnosed diabetes, who were not yet on insulin treatment. Doses of 100+ milligrams (some 200) were administered to 36 individuals. After two months, there were improvements in: blood glucose, mood, as well as physical performance. When given up to 200mg, there were improved amounts of A1C hemoglobin. That improvement reflects quality of blood sugar levels for the prior three months.
Erectile Dysfunction Treatment
This can’t hurt, for certain! Improved sexual vitality is a great side effect of taking Korean Red Panax, so lets discuss it a bit. The active ingredients in panex is found to help men maintain an erection. The difference in how this works, compared to something like Horny Goat Weed or viagra, is that to get the sexual benefits from taking G, you must take it on a continual basis.
In one research study of 90 men with erectile dysfunction, 60% of the participants reported improvement in their symptoms compared with 30% of those using the placebo. Unlike prescription drugs for ED which are usually taken when needed, ginseng only appears to be useful for ED if taken on a continuous basis.
Here is the main side effect we’re looking for. Incidentally, a boost in T levels is also going to help with libido and sexual vigor. The simple truth is, as you age, testosterone production in your body drops, from 1% to 1.5% per year after 40. Anything you can do to boost this and maintain a healthy level is going to give you vigor and youthfulness.
A study done in 1996 by Panminerva Medica found that Red Panax intake produced elevated amounts of testosterone.
Sixty-six patients have been treated with Panax G C.A. Meyer extract, of whom 30 oligoastenospermic sine causa (group A), 16 oligoastenospermic with idiopathic varicocele (group B). Twenty age-matched volunteers were used as controls (group C). Use of Panax G extract showed an increase in spermatozoa number/ml and progressive oscillating motility, an increase in plasma total and free testosterone, DHT, FSH and LH levels, but a decrease in mean PRL. It is suggested that ginsenosides may have an effect at different levels of the hypothalamus-pituitary-testis axis.
Ginsenosides, as referenced in that study, are the active ingredient found in ginseng believe to contribute to elevating T levels in the group.
Nitric Oxide Benefits for Bodybuilding
Yet another study (mainly focused on sexual performance) suggests that ginsenosides work directly on the body through vasodilatation (widening arteries). This provides the obvious benefit of sexual performance, along with nitric oxide which increases blood flow to the muscles and improving erectile dysfunction. Increased blood flow allows for better transportation of oxygen and that helps to improve your bodybuilding workout.
So you’ve decided you want to give Ginseng a try? There are a couple options for you. Both are found at Amazon, the first one is an incredible deal — if you’ve convinced yourself to take it for a while. You get 180 bottles (yes, you heard correctly, 180 bottles of highly concentrated extract, for only around $44
This is the good stuff, Korean Red. The boxes each have 30 bottles, and there are 6 boxes, so you’re getting 180 bottles of extract, for only $44. That’s like … a quarter per bottle. Quarter as in 25 cents. It’s a great deal! The seller and product have 4.1 stars which is excellent for having 259 reviews at the time of this post (and I got mine without problem). In the image to the left, this is what you get in just 1 box, (and there’s 6).
Or, on the same page, you can select just one box, and it becomes $11.99. (Buying them one-by-one like this over time would make it cost $71.94! It’s almost twice the price from buying six boxes … almost like you buy 3 boxes, you get 3 boxes free). Regardless of which amount you’re interested in, the link for it is below.
